A business unit finance manager is a professional responsible for overseeing the financial operations of a business unit. The primary duties of a business unit finance manager include: • Developing and implementing strategies to maximize profits and reduce costs; • Monitoring and analyzing financial performance, including costs, revenues, and profits; • Analyzing capital expenditure requests and making recommendations for approval; • Developing and implementing financial plans and forecasts; • Providing regular financial reports to the executive team; • Maintaining and updating financial records in accordance with accounting regulations and company policies; • Forecasting cash flow and preparing budgets; • Ensuring compliance with financial regulations and laws; • Developing and managing relationships with external stakeholders, such as banks, investors, and auditors; • Supervising and training accounting staff; • Performing cost and profitability analyses; • Negotiating financial contracts and agreements; • Managing the company's investments and portfolios; • Investigating and resolving financial discrepancies; • Monitoring and reporting on financial risks; • Developing and implementing systems for collecting, analyzing, and reporting financial data; • Assisting in the preparation of financial statements; • Managing and reconciling accounts payable and receivable; • Assisting in developing and updating financial policies and procedures. The ideal candidate for this role should possess a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, as well as strong analytical, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. A professional certification, such as a CPA or CFA, is also preferred. At least five years of experience in the financial industry is generally required for this position.
